The SYIS team consists of enthusiastic YIs that work together in order to continue building the society and host various events. Our tasks include communication with the SSAI/yEFIS, organization of seminars, preparing the newsletter, engaging with our followers on social media and applying for funding.

Event WG – search for a deputy taking the role of coordinator from mid June on

If you are interested in contributing to the society’s vibrant environment, and the power of connecting with fellow immunologists to organize our seminar series and annual symposium, this is for you! We are deciding on a scientific program together, choosing our favorite speakers to invite, and combining it with apéritifs and gatherings to create engaging events with our incredible team. As coordinator, you will be responsible for keeping the group active and motivated and ensuring that the organization of these events is smooth and on track. You need to support the communication as well as  the good repartition of the tasks among your members, keeping a structure with monthly meetings and coordination via Slack. Importantly, your role would also, as member of the board, to work in hand with the other working groups and attend the coordinator meetings, which are organized every 6 weeks. We expect you to be reachable and responsive via Slack and to check the platform regularly.

Finances WG- looking for new volunteers starting as soon as possible

Are you an early career immunologist looking to gain new skills in grant writing and sponsorship acquisition? No matter what your next career step in immunology is -whether in academia or industry- the ability to acquire funding and establish partnerships with companies will almost certainly be beneficial to you and your CV. Becoming part of the SYIS finance working group can help you gain these skills in exchange for a few hours of your time each month. We are looking for friendly, reliable, and organized team players to help our team secure funding for our society to host our seminar series and annual symposium. The job would entail one-hour monthly zoom meetings with the other finance working group members, plus about 2-3 hours each month responding to slack messages, contacting sponsors via email, and filling in grant applications. In order for communication to run as smoothly as possible, we expect you to be easily reachable during the work week and your prompt responsiveness via the platform Slack. After a trial month, you would ideally be committed to staying on board for one year. If you are interested in learning more about the position, please contact Katarina with any questions. 

Communication WG – looking for new volunteers starting as soon as possible

Whether you prefer methodical work or more creative tasks, the communication WG can offer you a platform to learn something more about social media, advertisement and blog management, while contributing to soft-skills such as team building and organization. We are looking for graphic enthusiasts – whether curious to learn or already advanced – who will work on creating flyers for our monthly seminars and other events. We are also looking for volunteers happy to support with the SYIS LinkedIn and X profiles, sharing engaging posts and keeping our members up-to-date with our activities. If you are interested in conceiving original topics and finding authors interested in writing about them, then our blog could be the best choice for you! Depending on the chosen responsibility, you would need to allocate a few hours per month and ensure your availability on Slack.
